We originally submitted Spirit Racer to Reedsy Discovery for one simple reason: we wanted clear, professional editorial feedback from outside our own bubble.
As a studio, we’re used to iteration, critique, and external perspective — and we wanted the same level of clarity around the book. So we were really pleased to receive a 4-star editorial review, alongside a detailed and thoughtful write-up.
The Reedsy reviewer described Spirit Racer as:
“A captivating book that hooks you from the first page… atmospheric, immersive, and expertly paced.”
They also highlighted the emotional core of the story:
“Aleja is a dreamer… a gutsy heroine driven by family, loyalty, and the need to fight for something bigger than herself.”
Shortly after the review went live, Spirit Racer was then featured on Reedsy Discovery’s ‘Discover Weekly’ list, appearing under Best Young Adult Books for that week. This isn’t something books automatically receive — it’s an editorial selection, and it was a nice early signal that the book’s tone, concept, and presentation were landing as intended.

What’s been encouraging is how consistent the feedback has been across different reviewers and platforms.
A separate 4-star editorial review from YA Books Central (via Goodreads) focused on many of the same strengths: the pace, the action, the mythology-driven races, and the emotional arc of Aleja’s journey. They described the book as:
“Action-packed, non-stop excitement guided by mythology, past history, and imagination.”
They also called out the wider appeal:
“The story moves quickly and has plenty of action… with strong themes of family and developing self-confidence.”
Importantly, both reviews — and the reader responses we’ve seen so far — reflect the same core elements:
adventure, heart, high-energy action, a determined central character, and widespread appeal.
We’re completely new to book marketing, but our next step is to begin work on a short, cinematic 3D animated trailer for Spirit Racer with dual benefits: to promote the book, and to begin exploring what this story could look like in full 3D animation.
